Step-by-Step Capture Guide
Install the .RBZ Plugin
Open SketchUp and navigate to Extensions > Extension Manager. Click 'Install Extension' and select the get3dcapture.rbz file you downloaded.
Activation:
Once installed, you'll see the Get3DCapture toolbar in the Extension Manager Menu. Click "Start Capture" to launch the Chrome browser (It must be completely closed before starting the capture).
Because the extension is new and runs via a local command prompt, some antivirus systems may incorrectly flag it. If the capture window closes immediately, please add the SketchUp Plugins folder to your antivirus exclusion list.C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2026\SketchUp\Plugins
Explore Google Earth
The plugin opens a Chrome window with Google Earth. Find your project location and use the middle mouse button to tilt and rotate. This loads high-resolution 3D tiles into the workspace.
PRO TIP
"Ensure you rotate around your target building at least once. This 'locks in' the textures for the facades, ensuring a perfect import into SketchUp."
One-Key Capture (F12)
With your area in view, press F12 on your keyboard. The browser will freeze for a second as it processes the geometry for SketchUp.
Finalize in SketchUp
Check the console window. A prompt will ask if you want to convert the capture to SketchUp format. Confirm, and wait until the conversion is complete, then go back to SketchUp Get3DCapture Menu and press "Import Latest Capture".
The geometry will be placed precisely. You can then use SketchUp's standard Scale tool to match your specific project constraints.
